Sagar Kumar, Chief Executive Officer

Growing up with his hard working parents, Sagar had learned that the hospitality industry had infinite limits. It's a job that requires constant vigilance, a good support team, and the courage to step out of the box. Once Sagar graduated UCLA with an Economics degree in 2005, he began acquiring and remodeling hotels throughout the Los Angeles area. Then in 2006, he spent one year in West Texas where he converted buildings into extended stay hotels. He continued to oversee all management personnel at these properties. 

In 2009, Sagar took a risk and decided to branch off from the well-known franchise models and create a boutique hotel in Studio City, California. Being one of the first in the industry to adopt this model, especially during a nationwide economic decline, Sagar utilized his knowledge of the hospitality industry to build a brand from the bottom up. In 2011, he opened the first of three BLVD Hotels, while continuing his management role of nearly 20 other franchised properties.

Currently, Sagar maintains his ownership role in over 30 hotels nationwide, and as OceansV Hotel Management CEO, is responsible for the management operations, development, and success of all properties. 

Ty Washington , Digital Content Strategist

Ty Washington joins OceansV Hotel Management with ten years of experience in the digital and multimedia world. Ty previously served as Managing Partner of Wave Tech Media, an all-encompassing boutique multimedia firm. Along with his team of partners in photography, videography, graphic design/imaging, and website/social media design, Wave Tech Media successfully collaborated with entities such as the National Football League (NFL), Wells Fargo, Sony Pictures, Southern California Edison, Verizon Wireless, Domino’s Pizza, and BLVD Hotels.

Before becoming Managing Partner, Ty served in the administration of Los Angeles Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa as Director of Strategic Communications. Under the Office of Economic & Business Policy, Ty was instrumental in effectively communicating the Mayor’s business initiatives to policymakers, community stakeholders, and other public/private sector entities.

Shareena Kumar, Chief Financial Officer

Entering the hospitality industry in 2006, Shareena has worked in various positions. Beginning as an accounting manager, after earning her International Business and Management degree from UC Irvine in 2006, Shareena then spent ten years assisting with forecasting revenues, overseeing construction funds, and creating financial structure for existing and newly built hotels in various locations around California. 

As the CFO of OceansV Hotel Management, Shareena is responsible for the daily accounting processes, financial details, and is the liaison to banks for multiple hotel properties.

Lance Echols, Director of Revenue Management

With over 25 years of industry experience, Lance has perfected the joining of excellent customer service with maximized profitability. Hailing from New Mexico, Lance’s passion for customer service began in high school, starting as a busser, then being promoted to waiter. Lance learned all facets of the hospitality business during his 17-year tenure at one of Santa Fe’s premier historic hotels, beginning as a reservation agent, and moving all the way up the ladder to Director of Operations and Revenue Management. There, he gained an innate understanding, knowledge and appreciation for the varied roles and commitment it takes to lead sales and operations of a successful hotel. Lance has parlayed his vast experience with a new venture, a successful Revenue Management /Operations Consulting business. Always rooted in a strong value-based culture; Lance has helped build winning teams throughout his leadership career. While serving in the U.S. Army, Lance learned that the most effective leaders surround themselves with outstanding talent, whose dedication and loyalty to succeed go beyond expectations. When at leisure, Lance pursues his passion for motorcycle road racing, annoying the neighbors with loud music, and his deep appreciation of nature. He appreciates that his entire hospitality career has taken place in his beloved home state, and is blessed to spend his off time with his new wife, son and a couple of four-legged friends.

The Next Generation in Hotel Management 

Mohammed Yousuf, President of Human Resources and Operations

Yousuf has over 14 years of experience in the hospitality industry. He began his career with an entry level associate position at a Southern California franchised hotel. Within the first year, he was promoted to an upper management position. As a Guest Service Supervisor at the Hilton Checkers in Downtown Los Angeles, Yousuf was the supervisor of guest experience, daily hotel operations, and oversaw the Human Resources department. He was also an Operation Manager at the 123 room Quality Inn & Suites in downtown Los Angeles. There he oversaw day-to-day operations, lead the sales and marketing team, supervised revenue management and managed renovation, closely helping the GM operate the property.

In 2010, Yousuf joined the BLVD Hotel and Spa in Studio City, California as the General Manager. He was responsible for the hiring of employees, supply organization, and preparing the hotel for its opening in early 2011. Since then, Yousuf has helped to open two more BLVD Hotels in Southern California, while continuing his role as General Manager at both properties. His primary role at all three hotels is to oversee the day to day operations, maintenance procedures, and creating a hiring and training etiquette for the company. Cost control is his said expertise. With over 5 years of experience with the BLVD Hotel brand, Yousuf has become an invaluable part of OceansV Hotel Management.

Tiana Nakanishi, Vice President of Sales and Marketing

Tiana has more than eleven years of sales and marketing experience in the hospitality industry, representing companies such as Hilton Hotels & Resort, Langham Hotels International, Pacific Palms Resort and most recently acting Director of Sales & Marketing for BLVD Hotels. Tiana’s passion for bottom-line revenue growth drives her to build successful marketing plans and implement sales strategies that compete in today’s fast-paced Southern California market. 

With her experience, she brings insight for large group based hotels as well as smaller transient-focused properties with emphasis on a customer satisfaction and guest loyalty to the brand.   

Her college education has earned her three degrees, Business Administration, Liberal Arts and Kinesiology from Diablo Valley College and Sacramento State University.
